When interior designer Amy Zolin reached out to me about photographing a sunroom she had designed for a long-time client, it wasn’t just about photographing the space for her portfolio, it was about positioning her entire brand in Charleston, South Carolina. Amy and Ashley Zolin of Clarity Home Interiors have just opened an office in South Carolina and needed to launch with some momentum. I knew that we would need to incorporate both brand imagery and interior imagery to capture all the assets she would need for her new venture.
From the start, we approached her photoshoot with a strategic brand shoot lean, it wasn’t just about photographing the space. We thought about photographing her all around Charleston because that would give Amy an overt sense of place, but like many designers, her install was the same week as the shoot! And coordinating a multi-location photoshoot was just not going to happen.
So? We had to capture the vibe that is Charleston on location. This meant bright and breezy edit for the images, a laid back down-south composition style, and lots of photos outside to capture that all-seasons lifestyle. The pictures turned out gorgeous and we got a lot of “lofi” style images for Amy to use in social media and in her proposals as well.

Obviously, we had to photograph the beautiful space. And even with a mini shoot, we still had plenty of time to capture all the details!

In addition to getting great photos of the space, fresh headshots are something I encourage interior designers to do about every other shoot – when else do you have a photographer at your beck and call?

LoFi images are not taken on my architectural camera, I take these photos to use as social media images – they’re great as text-carousel post backgrounds, pinterest pin backgrounds, or in stories. While that might not sound like high value content, its important to remember just how highly converting those channels are and putting native content into those channels keeps your audience engaged.
